Łódź is the third largest city of Poland. During the 19th century, Łódź was a very active industrial center, the Manchester of Central Europe and to be precise the main textile production center of Russia (Łódź was part of the Russian empire at that time).
The Grand Hotel is located in the main street of Łódź. It was built in the end of the XIXth century (1888) and is considered as the oldest hotel of the city. This is also the most prestigious hotel of this very industrial area (Nota: Orbis was the name of the Polish tourism organization during the communist period).
